I love the site and have lurked for a while. I'm a fairly "young" soccer/Spurs fan comparatively. Just a couple observation/thoughts/questions for all the wise sages that comment so frequently on this site.
1. Is anyone else a bit nervous about how little separates us from Liverpool? A drastic change in style is almost certainly going to take a while to bed in and their results lately have been pretty promising. The added threat of Sturridge makes me feel a bit anxious about their prospects in the second half.
2. What would you say if AVB rolled our boys out in a 3 CB / 2 WB formation with Kyle and Gareth as wingbacks? For me, it makes a lot of sense: both are at their best bombing forward with space to run into, we have the personnel for a 3 man backline, and we could concentrate more bodies centrally without necessary losing the threat from the wide areas of the field.
I have not seen much full-game action from Yann but I was glad to find some of those "Yann M'Vila against England" type videos on Youtube. It shows all of his involvement in the game. I think he'd actually be quite a good buy for us (attitude aside..?) because he seems to do three things quite well: he has good positioning, tactical awareness, and seems quite capable to recycle the ball and provide that metronomic passing from deep.
He certain doesn't have the passing talent of Luka but could do some of the things that Luka did so well for us. Having him in the side would free Sandro (when healthy) to be deployed in that more free "crusader" role that he seems to like and I think Mousa's dribbling, ball control abilities are a bit better utilized further up the pitch.
I for one would be quite happy if we scooped him in this transfer window... then I'd just hope that AVB and his national team captain could help him keep it together off the pitch.
Thoughts?
