Phew. After seeing Tottenham Hotspur get their first victory of the season last weekend things are whole lot calmer around these parts. But after a frustrating draw against Lazio yesterday, how will Tottenham Hotspur bounce back in the league?
The opponent is Queens Park Rangers at home this week. QPR has been off to quite an inconsistent start in the league so far. After an opening game slaughtering by Swansea, QPR has bounced back and played better, leading to a 0-0 draw against Chelsea last week. QPR has acquired some extremely talented players in Esteban Granero, Julio Cesar, and Stéphane M'Bia, but can QPR launch an attack able to win their first game of the season?
As for the prediction league, Ashlock dropped another perfect prediction on us last week, furthering his lead. The rules remain the same in the Prediction League--one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here are the current standings:
This week's predictions after the jump:
Kevin: QPR shut out Chelsea solely because Fernando Torres is crap. We duplicate last week's result. 3-1 Spurs
Mechanick: QPR tries to keep it tight, but Tottenham gets the lone goal that makes the difference from Deuce. 1-0 Spurs
Ryan: This won't be pretty and I will probably consider cutting myself a dozen times during the match, but a late goal wins it for Spurs and all is right with the world. 1-0 Spurs
Ashlock: QPR's defense is not good. 2-0 Spurs
The Roosevelts: The team seems to be coming together, at least for the first 35-40 minutes of each half before they let of the gas. 3-2 Spurs
Ed: Tired legs against physical opposition makes this one a real slog for Spurs. I'm calling this one as a dull as dishwater draw with a lot of aimless, frustrating knocking the ball around. Sorry guys. 0-0 Draw
Petrilli: 2-1 Spurs. And please, everyone, remember to spay and neuter your pets.
Uncle Menno: I'm going with the theory that the shit result against Lazio has effectively sucked out all the bad karma from this team. 3-1 Spurs.
