Everyone has been tracking the Clint Dempsey transfer saga very closely all day. Earlier this morning Aston Villa had a bid accepted for him, but the player declined to go to the Villans. At that point all signs pointed strongly to the American attacker joining Liverpool, but Fulham rejected the Reds' bid and now it seems that the only remaining suitor for Dempsey is Tottenham.
Several sources have tweeted and Sky Sports News have confirmed that Dempsey is in Chigwell at the Spurs Lodge for a medical with hopes of completing a deal before the window closes in less than an hour and a half. The rumored price for Dempsey is somewhere between £5 and £7 million, which is pretty good value for a player that scored 17 goals last season in the Premier League.
Dempsey would represent the second signing of the day for Spurs who have some of the deadwood from their squad today and added French goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. There's been no new news on Joao Moutinho. I would imagine that when that deal became difficult to complete the club turned to Dempsey. There's still about 90 minutes left in the window. Hopefully we'll have more good news soon.
