Gomes was one of many arrivals in 2008 that looked like future stars of Tottenham Hotspur. He's had a lot of excellent moments in a Tottenham shirt and his performances helped the team qualify for the Champions League for the first time, but he lost his job last year because of his wild inconsistency. Harry Redknapp and Daniel Levy decided that 40-year-old Brad Friedel was a better option than Gomes, and they were right. He's probably done as Tottenham's keeper, but can they find a good buyer?
Position: Goalkeeper
Age: 31
With the club since: June 2008
Likelihood he's sold: Pretty good if Hugo Lloris comes in, but not very good if the Lloris purchase isn't completed. Somehow, I don't see Daniel Levy paying extremely high wages to his fourth goalkeeper, but we haven't heard anything about a potential market for Gomes. His sale could come out of nowhere.
Likelihood he plays if he stays: Virtually nothing. Brad Friedel is the starter and Carlo Cudicini is the cup/Europa League keeper. He's probably third string.
If he leaves, he goes to: I can't even pick out a league and a price. Let's say a Brasileirao club on a loan with an option to buy.
