Luka Modric has been sold to Real Madrid, according to the Telegraph. This is not the first time that we have heard that the deal is "done" and it probably won't be the last. It is unlikely that he has been sold, but he will be sold and the deal that is being reported as done is probably pretty similar to what the final deal will be.
Apparently this deal is for up to £33 million. That isn't a guaranteed £33 million, just up to that. My guess (and it really is a guess) is that it is probably a £28 million deal with up to £5 million more in add ons. That would make us all Real Madrid fans because while some of those add ons would be for things like appearances, some would also be for Madrid's performance. Hala Madrid?
More than anything, this deal just needs to be finalized. Daniel Levy has already backed himself, Andre Villas-Boas and whoever else is involved in buying players into a corner. They have limited options to buy and will almost certainly have to overpay for whoever they buy and that only gets worse by the day.
Whatever the deal is now, get it done, Levy. Things can only go downhill from here, unless you are planning on keeping Modric. At this point, that should be a real option.
