So, there are some striker rumors that are certainly plausible for Tottenham Hotspur. The thought of Leandro Damiao coming in is certainly not outside the realm of possibility. Other striker rumors are far-fetched. For instance, signing Fernando Llorente may be a fun idea, but it's never going to happen. Then there are rumors that are just pants-on-head crazy. Like Radamel Falcao being asked if he'd like to play for Tottenham Hotspur.
In a Goal.com exclusive interview, which, as a quick aside, had to have been one of the most ridiculous interviews ever, Falcao was asked about his thoughts on his former coach, Andre Villas-Boas, and his chance of success at Spurs. The Colombian striker responded:
"Villas-Boas is a great coach. He is very young, very obsessive with detail, he feels and breathes football. I don't know what went wrong at Chelsea, and it's difficult for me to assess the situation as I don't know the details, but I know him and I know he will do well at Spurs or wherever he goes."
But then, the interview asks him about the possibility of playing in England, perhaps for Spurs.
Falcao's response was this:
"I don't really dream about the Premier League. I know it's followed worldwide but I really just think of the Spanish league with Atletico. My mind is not set on another league right now. I have a four-year contract, therefore I will stay at Atletico. That's what I know at the moment."
Now, in all fairness to the person from Goal.com that interview Falcao, we don't know exactly what the question was, but I sincerely hope that the interviewer didn't ask Falcao about playing for Spurs. If that's the case though then, well, I'm not sure what to think. That's an insanely stupid question. It's not that Falcao couldn't play for Spurs. He definitely could. We just can't afford him.
I'm not sure what the price for Falcao would be, but I imagine Atletico Madrid would want close to €50 million. There is no way that Tottenham Hotspur could afford that price. We can't even shell out £30 million for a striker. Falcao is one of the best strikers in the world and there is no chance of him ever playing for Spurs.
