If I were Daniel Levy

If I were Daniel Levy I would slap myself around the face a number of times. I would harshly criticise myself for leaving my new manager (AVB) without a strike force. I would realise that although I consider myself a wornderful negotiator I have left myself in a terrible negotiating position because every club in the footballing world knows that we desperately need to strengthen our "striking options". This means that any club we contact about a striker can ask for millions more than they would have normally. And the agents of the strikers can demand even larger signing on fees/wages simply because the biggest message coming out of WHL right now is that we are:

DESPERATE FOR A STRIKER! (A striker over 5 foot 5 inches)

So what happens now? Well judging by the reports in the papers we have started sniffing around in the rotting reserves of our rivals. It has been suggested that we are speaking with Arsenal about Chamakh and there is some speculation that we approach Man U for Berbatov. Im not saying that these players are crap but why do have to be so desperate when it comes to strikers? How have we ended up in a position where our only senior striker is 5 foot 5? U might be able to get away with a pocket size lone striker in La Liga but not the EPL. One of the questions I ask myself right now is should we have kept hold of Saha? He is no superstar but he could have continued to act as a back up.

So Mr Levy even though I have been a major fan of yours during your reign I must say that the current striking situation at spurs is embarrassing. You have left our new manager in the mire which is particularly unfortunate given that the guy really needs a good start to his time in charge.

Please sign 3 strikers in the coming weeks who can play the lone striker role better than Defoe. Unfortunately this time you are going to have to overcome your urge to fight for a bargain because you will find that other teams will call your bluff. There is no point employing a poker face when everyone at the table knows the cards you hold in your hand.
