Were you wondering whether or not Andre Villas-Boas had Kyle Naughton in his plans going forward? Well, you just got your answer. Tottenham Hotspur have announced via the official club website that Naughton has signed a new contract that runs through 2016.
Naughton was very impressive on loan last season at Norwich City, where he played both left back and right back. His versatility and level of comfort in both positions probably had a lot to do with why the club chose to sign him to a new contract. With Vedran Corluka gone and Danny Rose proving last year that he's no defender, Naughton is crucial cover and was always going to have a spot in the team this year.
I don't think Naughton is ever going to develop into a first choice player for Tottenham Hotspur, but he's the primary backup at two positions and should get plenty of games between now and the end of the 2015-16 season.
