Ladies and gentlemen, August friendlies! Give them a big, long round of applause.

Gareth Bale started for Wales yesterday in their friendly against Bosnia-Herzegovina, and he was forced out of that game after 60 minutes with a back injury. The fear is that he aggravated the injury that kept him out of the Olympics, but we won't know for sure how bad his injury is until at least tomorrow, if we ever learn at all.

Bale doesn't think it's too bad, however, and thinks he can play this weekend against Newcastle.

"It was a bit sore when I landed on it, but it wasn't too bad. I will be fine and I just have to get myself ready for the weekend."

We have a new regime at White Hart Lane, so nothing is certain, but I'm assuming that the official club website will release team news tomorrow. At that point, hopefully Andre Villas-Boas will talk about Bale's injury and the availability of other players for Saturday's match.
