Giovani dos Santos reportedly left the Mexico Olympic team camp recently to travel to Spain and finalize a transfer away from Tottenham Hotspur. That transfer hasn't happened yet, and Gio is still on the books at White Hart Lane. This is just like every other transfer rumor ever, where we hear a Gio transfer is 99 percent done and nothing happens.
Of course, I'm happy about this. I think that dos Santos is a good player and that he could be a solid contributor under Andre Villas-Boas, but it's just a bit annoying that these rumors keep popping up and then nothing happens. Apparently, Gio's not too worried.
"The window closes at the end of August and I am calm, I'm not getting desperate. I'm still a Tottenham player and if there is no other option, I'll stay and do my best like I have always done. I can't complain. I have learnt a lot at Tottenham, the team have great quality, and it won't be a bad thing if I have to stay. Nothing concrete has come as yet, we expect that will happen within the next few days. I'm very relaxed here with the national team, my head is here and my agent is dealing with everything. I am trying to keep myself away from it all and focus here, to be 100 percent and not get worried about the clubs. There are obviously options, but I'm relaxed. I talk to my agent every day and he has told me to stay calm and that there will be news soon."
Hopefully, for Gio's sake, his agent is right. He's obviously going to get much more of a look under Villas-Boas than he ever did under Redknapp, but he's probably going to have a better chance of playing regularly at one of La Liga's second-tier clubs.
