It's taken longer than anyone expected, but Steven Pienaar's move back to Everton from Tottenham Hotspur appears to finally be underway. There were reports yesterday that the two teams had agreed to a fee for Pienaar's transfer back to Merseyside, and according to Sky Sports, he's currently undergoing a medical at Everton's training facility.
Tottenham are going to get back at least what they paid for Pienaar, if not more, even though he hasn't done much since he joined the team a year and a half ago. He was impressive during his loan spell at Everton last spring, however, and they're in need of an attacking midfielder after selling Tim Cahill to New York Red Bulls. This is a move that should work out well for both teams, and it should be announced by Everton either later today or early on Wednesday.
By the way, don't shoot the messenger, but Steven Pienaar and Niko Kranjcar are going to exit White Hart Lane during the same transfer window, while Giovani dos Santos just scored two goals for El Tri in their win a couple of days ago. Could this mark the rebirth of Gio?
