Players Tottenham should pursue this summer

With new found funds ready to back Spurs in the transfer market this summer, many Spurs fans like myself are really eager to make some quality signings. In the past few weeks we have already completed the signing of Jan Vertonghen and Gylfi Sigurdsson, and it looks as though Daniel Levy and AVB are only getting started. So who should Tottenham pursue this season?

Christian Eriksen (Ajax)- Eriksen would be more than a good signing for Spurs. He plays center mid for Ajax, and would be an ideal replacement for Modric, not to mention he is only 20 years old. The young midfielder might not have the passing quality of Modric, but he has plenty of tricks of his sleeve and scored a total of 11 goals last season in all competitions.

Clint Dempsey (Fulham)- Maybe I have Dempsey on this list just because im American, but why would Tottenham not be interested in signing him? He scored a total of 23 goals for Fulham last season, not to mention playing in many different positions. Clint works best in VDVs role, directly behind the striker. I dont think he would challenge VDV for a starting place, but he could be there when VDV is injured, which means he would start every game because VDV IS ALWAYS INJURED or comes off in the 4th minute of the match, Dempsey is absolutely perfect for Spurs all though I believe Liverpool are on the verge of signing him.

Dimitar Berbatov (Man U)- Many Spurs fans would love to see Berbatov at the Lane again. Berbatov might not be the hardest working striker in the world, or the most consistent, but the man is absolutely brilliant. In the 2010/2011 season he scored a total of 21 goals in 32 appearances for the club. I say forget Adebayor and his outrageous wage demands and bring in Berbatov for a couple of seasons.

Robert Lewandowski (Borussia Dortmund)- The Polish striker didnt have the best Euro campaign despite scoring the opening goal of the tournament, but he set the Dormund attack on fire this season scoring 30 goals for the German Champions. According to several sources, Lewandowski is desperate for a premier League switch, and Tottenham would be perfect for him. He might have a high asking price, but at only 23 he is a great investment for the future, unlike Adebayor who is already 28.

Rui Patricio (Sporting CP)- As a goalkeeper for the future, Patricio is perfect. He is still in his early 20s and is already first choice for Portugal. He had a great season and is coming off a great display at Euro 2012. The only downside to this is the clubs large transfer demand.
