Take this one with a heavy grain of salt, but the Daily Mirror is reporting that Fulham is interested in Tottenham Hotspur midfielder David Bentley, either on a low-fee transfer or loan. Bentley, 27, was loaned out to West Ham United last season, before suffering a season ending injury that required surgery after only five appearances.
Bentley arrived with high expectation £15 million from Blackburn Rovers. Bentley had a strong debut season for Spurs, but injuries and the emergence of Aaron Lennon have seen his playing time limited in recent years at Tottenham Hotspur.
Bentley is looking to re-energize his career and would be a good fit for Fulham. Fulham is currently fairly bereft of true right midfielders, and with transfer rumours swirling around Clint Dempsey and Moussa Dembele, they could very well need an injection of new wide midfielders. Bentley was an England international at the peak of his powers, and will need a loan (or sale) away from Spurs to get playing time. It is to be seen whether Fulham (and the Premiership) is a level too high for the recovering Bentley.
