Tottenham Hotspur announced today that the first-team will travel to Valencia this pre-season for a friendly to be played in the legendary Estadio Mestalla. The friendly will take place on Thursday August 9, kick-off 9 p.m. (presumably GMT).

Valencia is coming off their third-straight third-place finish in La Liga, placing them again into the group stages of the Champions League. The friendly should provide a stern test for Spurs only nine days ahead of the start for the Premier League season. The first-team also might be a bit short-handed, as the Tottenham contingent in the Olympic football tournament may be unlikely to feature.
