WOOT. Ajax and Belgium defender Jan Vertonghen, who we've been trying to sign since forever, is going to sign for Tottenham Hotspur. Daniel Levy's been doing his negotiating thang for a while and it looks like he's finally wrapped up the signing. Vertonghen reportedly announced in a press conference that he will be joining Tottenham shortly. Sky and ESPN are both running with it.

This is, quite obviously, a pretty freaking awesome development. I'll try to track down the press conference in question and the quotes from it. I assume that the major media outlets in attendance will actually have stories up with quotes from Verthongen shortly. Most likely, we'll hear the story in Dutch first.
