Tottenham Hotspur are tied with Arsenal on points and five points ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea, thanks to their 3-1 win over Swansea City at White Hart Lane on Sunday. Swansea did a great job of keeping the ball and controlled the early part of the second half, but an early goal by Rafael van der Vaart and two late goals by Emmanuel Adebayor were the difference. Spurs didn't have a lot of the ball, but created shots when they got it.

Van der Vaart's opener came at the end of a brilliant 19th minute counter attack. Luka Modric started the move with a stunning through ball down the left wing for Gareth Bale to sprint onto. He drilled a low cross towards the penalty spot, which deflected off a Swansea defender, but it fell right into the path of Van der Vaart. He blasted a brilliant finish past Michel Vorm to give Tottenham a lead that they would carry into halftime.

Spurs started the second half slowly and allowed Swansea to dominate the play. They almost equalized in the 50th minute on a strike by Gylfi Sigurdsson, but Brad Friedel made a miraculous diving save. Eventually, Sigurdsson would find the goal, beating Friedel with a volley in the 59th minute. With the ball skipping up on him on the edge of the box, he hit the ball into the ground and it skipped past Friedel.

At that point, Tottenham realized the situation that they were in and decided that it was time to wake up. They still didn't look great until about the 67th minute, when Bale set up Van der Vaart for a shot, but Michel Vorm was able to make a great save. In the 71st minute, Aaron Lennon came on for Sandro, which changed the game. Sandro had a very solid game for Spurs, but the team needed an injection of pace, and Lennon provided it.

Bale won a corner kick in the 72nd minute, and Tottenham would find what would eventually be the winner on the ensuing corner. Van der Vaart swung in a brilliant corner for Emmanuel Adebayor, who headed in to give Spurs the lead. Both a headed goal and a corner kick goal. This is not an April Fool's joke.

In the 86th minute, Adebayor scored the clincher, once again with a header. Lennon provided the assist with a beautiful cross, showing a bit of exactly what Spurs have been missing while he's been out.

That was awesome, I'm going to enjoy it until forever.
