If he says run around a bit, you must acquit: Harry Redknapp cleared on tax evasion charges
Harry Redknapp is apparently not a tax evader, or apparently not enough of an ill-intending, obvious tax evader to get in trouble. Redknapp and former Portsmouth FC owner Milan Mandaric have been cleared of all charges in their tax evasion case. Everything should get back to normal at Tottenham Hotspur shortly, which is really awesome, considering that the team has looked a bit shaky late in the games where Redknapp has not been in charge.
If you haven't been following along with this case, Mandaric gave Redknapp a couple of payments. He told 'Arry to open up a bank account in Monaco for one of them. The defense successfully argued that the money Mandaric gave to Redknapp as a friendly gesture and that the payment did not have anything to do with his job. Harry did not open up the account in Monaco with a view to evade tax, but for purposes of setting up investments.
Whether or not Harry Redknapp is a shady dude who tried to avoid paying his taxes, I don't know and I don't care. He's been cleared of the charges, and now we can finally move on with our lives.

Well...
This seems like it might have been a waste of British taxpayers money. Not that surprised by the verdict, figured he would get off.

Hmmmm, not sure how I feel about this.
I genuinely do believe that Harry is a slightly shady if harmless character, and part of me almost feels some justice should have been served to him, particularly when the evidence against him was so strong.
But I’m pleased we have our excellent manager for a bit longer at least.
Would it be wrong of me to feel deep down inside that he actually is guilty for something as a fan ?

No
If you read all the evidence and you think he evaded taxes, it doesn’t matter if you support Spurs

right result
at least based on the articles about the case I read. The prosecution’s case rested mostly on an interview ’Arry did with News of the World.

so... now that 'Arry's been acquited
… who will replace him as Tottenham manager when the FA asks him to manage the national team?
& I wonder if this becomes an issue sooner rather than later,
given that Capello’s on the outs.

What's happening for Capello is a double edged sword though
yes, it opens the door earlier for Redknapp. However, if you’re Redknapp and you’re seeing this nonsense with the FA, you may think twice about taking that job.
I honestly think Redknapp is far less likely to take the national job than people think. He’s not loyal to Tottenham, but he’s got it as good as he’s ever had it, he’s able to deal with players every day, and who’s to say he if he’s really greedy, he wouldn’t be able to jump to a team like Chelsea for a ton of cash in a few years?

On the other hand, he's an English patriot.
When your country comes calling you to lead its national football team, can you really say no?

I'm sure that 'Arry 'as 'ad 'is disagreements with Levy...
…when it comes to talent decisions, but you’d never know it from his interviews.
I don’t think that the Capello situation is one that will change many people’s minds about the England job. Especially people who have called the job the pinnacle of one’s career.
