Tottenham Hotspur Team News: Lennon And Defoe Doubtful, Nelsen Travels
Barring a major miracle, both Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe will be out for Tottenham Hotspur's clash against Liverpool this coming Monday. We'll probably get a much more detailed report on the injury status of everyone on Sunday or early on Monday morning, but it seems like this is very unlikely to change. Said Kevin Bond, on the official team website:
"Aaron and Jermain are being treated, both are extremely doubtful for Monday but obviously we'll give them every chance. The medical staff are working hard to see if they can get them there."
Rafael Van der Vaart picked up a calf strain against Wigan, and his status is currently unknown. Because Roman Pavlyuchenko and Steven Pienaar have been shipped out, while Niko Krancjar could presumably start on the wing,Louis Saha and Giovani dos Santos could actually be candidates to at least make substitute appearances against Liverpool.
Kyle Walker is going to be fine after picking up a knock, and there's no mention of Emmanuel Adebayor so it's likely that the same goes for him. Bond has also said that Ryan Nelsen will make the trip to Liverpool and that he is likely to make the 18.

Gio to play RM?
In the first Liverpool match, it seems we killed them with our pace…wouldn’t it make sense to start Gio?!?! That would be awesome…
Gio to play in a league game?

Call me crazy
I think it would be awesome, but I understand that with Arry, that would never happen…I DO like the kid Lancaster though…but is he ready for Fifthpool? (Guess we can’t call them SeventhPool right now..)
Sixthpool.
They’re behind Fifthcastle.

And no. Lancaster is nowhere near ready. Besides, he's a striker.

When oh when
will this idea of Gio playing die? It is beyond clear that Harry does not like him, and he will NOT be playing. If he comes on, it will be very very late on. The precedent has been set.

He's still with the club...
It will die when he is sold to a Spanish club. But as long as he is rotting on the bench, and we struggle to provide depth when our speedy wingers get knocks, its reasonable to think…personally, I was surprised Kranjcar got an opportunity…thought he was in the same boat as Gio!
You mean...
3-4 minutes isn’t enough to make a lasting impression? Surely that’s long enough to bag a brace and force yourself into the side.
Or, at the least, run around and look like you give a damn, something GDS doesn’t always do very well.
DO NOT WANT!!!!!!

So now that Sandro's back
Do we anticipate seeing a lopsided 4-3-3 whatever?

Yep.
We’ve seen it before. I’d anticipate Bale and Rafa both in Trequartista Around A Bit roles.

4-3-3
Friedel

Modric-Parker-Sandro
Bale-Ade-VDV
Putting a defensive minded guy in between Walker and VDV would be a good move…
Spurs released the new squad list for the rest of the season
Saha gets number 15. Nelsen gets 33.
Interest names on the list:
36 – Bongani Khumalo
38 – David Bentley
42 – Simon Dawkins
Not that I ever ever expect them to play.

Bentley's back?
I thought his loan was for a full season.

They're both back.
SJE are in the off season, so Dawkins is back home. Bentley went down with a knee injury in October for 6 months. Pretty sure the loan was terminated at that point.

Bentley was injured in October, out for six months, so....
He should be available in April or May?

Spurs Arsenal FA Cup Final
would be completely nutzo.
I don’t know if the pre game stress would be worth the post game joy though.

Because 50 year old me’s heart would burst like a pinata during a NLD FA Cup Final.

What about a NLD Champions League Semi-final next year????
Oh wait…….. ;-) (of course, if Arselol remain out of a CL spot)

Funny thing is, it could happen if 'Arry took a flier on him
If there was ever a player who would have the chance to pull that stunt it would be David Bentley.
