Keep off the pies, Tom.
Tom Huddlestone's season is over before it really got started. The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder, who has made just four appearances this season, will miss the rest of the season with ankle ligament surgery. Huddlestone had surgery on his ankle at the beginning of next year and was never able to make a 100 percent recovery. He's electing to have surgery now so that he can be (hopefully) 100 percent fit for the preseason.
Spurs have done well without Huddlestone this season, and there has been some good that has come out of his absence. Had Huddlestone been fit all year, it's unlikely that Jake Livermore would have had the opportunity to get playing time and improve his game significantly. Still, Huddlestone has been a good performer for Spurs over the years and it's very unfortunate that he won't get to play in any big games this year.
We'll almost certainly get into discussions about who has a role in our midfield in the future and who does not, but for now: Get well, Big Tom, and make sure to keep off those pies while you're in a boot!
