Tottenham Hotspur To Take New York, Play Friendly Vs. Red Bulls

Spurs are heading back to Red Bull Arena

Look out New York. Tottenham Hotspur is coming. Yup, according to the New York Post, Spurs will take to the Big Apple this summer for a July 31 or August 1 friendly against the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena. Wait, Red Bull Arena is in Harrison, New Jersey? Whatever, we're still calling this Spurs take New York.

Spurs have played at Red Bull Arena before, playing there against the Red Bulls in the summer of 2010 as part of a preseason tour that included a stop in San Jose. Tottenham won that match against the Red Bulls 2-1, but the goal was scored by Thierry Henry. If they let him score again this time...Heads. Will. Roll.

If other reports are to be believed, this stop in New York will be part of a preseason tour that includes stops in Baltimore and Los Angeles so all you American Spurs out there, get your vocal chords in shape. You might be singing for a team preparing for the Champions League. Scratch that. You better be singing for a team preparing for the Champions League.

Yes!

Original rumors were in Maryland or something but this is much better – just 20 minutes from my house. Will be my first Spurs match.

I also follow Red Bull New York :P

I think we're still going to see the Baltimore match

It’s where Under Armour HQ is so playing there in the first year of our kit deal with them makes sense. The original report said Baltimore, LA and an unnamed city. Looks like it will be Baltimore, LA and NY.

Still don't understand why they wouldn't keep themselves on the east coast

Still pumped for the Baltimore match. Would be cool to see 2 different CFC meet ups.

I really hope there's a Baltimore one.

20 minute drive to go see my first Spurs game? Can’t complain about that

They said this game is included in the season ticket package

And I’m a season ticket holder, so this is a dream come true for me. I’ll most definitely be there

by The Sleeping Chicken on Feb 11, 2012 3:25 AM GMT up reply actions

I can make it...

I just hate it when they play the Red Bulls since I root for both teams. But it’s not really a competitive game anyway, so I’ll probably go.

I'm there.

If they do I will absolutely be there.

It would be nice if they came to Toronto or Montreal

Since those are more feasible financially then the States for me. Still going to look into it.

Dammit

I want them to visit Houston or Dallas!

My thoughts are like Brian Cushing on the field: Everywhere.

That would be really nice to come to the new Dynamo stadium

But I am going to either Baltimore or NY, hopefully the Baltimore game is on a weekend.

I will make an effort to get to LA

Might be a hard sell for the Missus — I already dragged her to San Jose in ’10. But then, she dragged me to Anfield, so I think I have a little cred left. I guess I can also promise her a side trip to Amoeba Hollywood. Plus, I think she hates the Galaxy more than just about anyone on earth.

by Fnarf on Feb 11, 2012 12:16 AM GMT reply actions

I'm sure I'll have a group going to the LA match.

We’ll have to have a thread as that approaches to see who’s going and whether anyone wants to meet up.

Sweet

I went to the one in 2010. I’m all over this one again. The stadium is 3 minutes from my office, too.

Think if I am going to travel to see Spurs it will be at WHL!

Also, World Cup Qualifying this year, so have to get down to Toronto to see: Canada-US on June 3 and then June 12 Canada-Honduras – biggest game of the round for us

by ChrisB76 on Feb 11, 2012 1:41 AM GMT reply actions

I saw them the last time they came in RBA

and it was great even without the world cup players.

My seats were diagonally up 7 rows from the corner flag that Bale was attacking in one of the halves. It was amazing, but this could be so much better.

I was

also at that game and sitting in a similar area to you I think. It was an awesome experience, and I actually managed to get my jersey signed by Luka Modric! It was awesome, I hope to be able to go to the NY or Baltimore games here.

Either in New York or St. Petersburg, Russia during this...

If I am not in the States, maybe I can see Spurs play Zenit in the Champions League next campaign ;-)

Baltimore and NYC?

Oh it is on like donkey kong. 2 years in a row of seeing Spurs live. 3 different cities. Let’s make this happen.

Damn....

Why can’t they go to somewhere near Mississippi….

by Scott Parker's Hairline on Feb 11, 2012 4:10 AM GMT via mobile reply actions

Is it a nightmare to get to RBA from Brooklyn? Thinking about staying with my sister in Brooklyn if it would be logistically feasible to make it to RBA via public transit/cab.

by ahowie on Feb 11, 2012 4:31 AM GMT reply actions

Couldn't really be easier

Subway to NJ transit, to the stadium

www.TheDreamShake.com Co-Founder and Writer

by UofTOrange on Feb 11, 2012 1:55 PM GMT up reply actions

Not NJT!

You take the subway to the WTC and take the PATH from there to Harrison. NJT trains don’t stop at Harrison. Still really easy though.

by Joamiq on Feb 11, 2012 4:00 PM GMT up reply actions

Yup, definitely go PATH

Joamiq has it right. Really easy.
