Writers Prediction League - Tottenham at Wigan Athletic

Photo

Well, Spurs supporters found out one thing last week--it is easier to win a game that is 11 v. 9 than 11 v. 11. Sending offs for Liverpool's Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel helped launched Tottenham Hotspur to a 4-0 win that has brought the team up to midtable. Emanuel Adebayor has kept his momentum going from the Wolverhampton match with a brace against Liverpool, while the likes of Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Kyle Walker, Scott Parker, and Luka Modric all turned it starring performances.

This week, Tottenham has a new challenge in facing a feisty Wigan Athletic side that shocked Spurs at the DW Side last season. Wigan is looking poor on the season though, coming off two league losses in a row and losing star striker Hugo Rodallega to injury.

Our faithful writers have continued in their prediction league, as Ryan continues to lead. The rules remain, one point for a correct prediction, a bonus point for getting the score correct. Here's the current standings:

Name Score
Ryan 4
The Roosevelts 3
Kevin 2
Mechanick  2
Ashlock 2
Evan 1

This week's predictions after the jump:

Star-divide

Kevin: We'll dominate, but Al Habsi will play well enough to keep it respectable. 2-0 Spurs

Ashlock: Tottenham should win this game handily, but Ali Al-Habsi keeps this respectable. 3-0 Spurs

Mechanick: No Rodallega means to goal scoring for Wigan. Parker grabs his first. 2-0 Spurs

Ryan: If we lose this match I will cry. I don't want to cry. Goals by Adebayor and Bale. Spurs 2-1

The Roosevelts: I base this solely on how optimistic I currently am about the team. This is not a Spurs fans natural state of being. A loss is inevitable. 5-1 Wigan

Evan: Spurs put it together away from the Lane and begin climbing back up the table. 2-1 Spurs

4-1, Spurs.

We concede when I’m brought in as a sub at CB since we have no actual players healthy to bring in. Sorry for blowing it, y’all.

Like SBMWV? Try PegPelvisPete! The same great taste of SBMWV w/50% more snark & just 140 characters per serving!

2-0 Spurs

Ade scores one in the first half, and Ledley has one go in late off his ass.

4-0 Spurs (Ade Defoe Modric Bale)

I changed my mind about the line up because trying to fit Sandro in with VDV too earmarks two subs from kick off. So if Townsend is fit I think he will play behind Bale on the left. Could be a classic game tomorrow as Wigan play like us.

2-1: ade + kaboul header.

eff it, make them both headers! vdv serving them up interspersed between the 38 shots he will take on goal to make up for time missed.

unfortunately, i can see us getting caught on a counter attack.

i am looking forward to seeing sandro. will he unveil a new hair color? perhaps a piercing or a tattoo? im hoping he becomes the dennis rodman of the premier league. Sandrodman!

Strange, I was thinking 442 not least to keep JD/Ade on their run
I still think we win though, just a big surprise, maybe he is injured

by Spool on Sep 24, 2011 2:29 PM BST up reply actions

Definitely injured if he’s not in the 18. And this is my weekly what the hell moment?
