Good Monday morning friends. I hope you all made it through the weekend well. Hopefully you were not caught up in the riots in Tottenham. We at CFC hope that everyone made it through safely. But let us not focus on the sad things, it's finally game week, so let's get to it.
And now the "news"
While I doubt that it will be the crowds reaction that changes Luka's mind, it was nice to see him get such a warm welcome in the last friendly of preseason. I have never been a fan of booing a star player that might be on the way out. If they leave then they should be thanked for the gifts they have given us, and wished well.
It's an objective preview that is at times stinging, mostly because they are true and hit you right where you are soft, much like a liver kick.
Really? Our midfield was the strongest part of the team like a week ago. Now the season is here and it looks like we have no proven backups on the left, Jenas possibly starting in the center, and I fully expect to get word in the next 15 minutes that Aaron Lennon has blinded himself doing that cool thing he does with his eyebrow hair.
Finally that silver lining you were looking for.
What's happening around SB Nation after the jump
Montreal is in Quebec, Quebec is the French part of Canada, this video might be the most French thing I have ever seen. Which means it is sure to piss every other MLS teams' fans off.
I have not been able to track down video of everything that went on in the match but in addition to the usual MLS referee incompetence, this referee apparently made one questionable call, and one call that makes you question his ability to chew a stick of gum. New USMNT call up Bill Hamid was red carded in the 7th minute on a questionable but believable call but the shenanigans with Toronto's goal off a thrown in just has to be read to be believed.
Blah blah blah, Nani did something, blah blah blah nobody cares. The Community Shield is like the Carling Cup save for one exception. When you win the Carling cup you think it's amazing and nobody else cares. When you win the Community Shield, not even you think it means anything. Now lets get to the games!
