Harry Redknapp Is Stuck In 1992 OR Joe Cole Sucks At Football
Did you know that Harry Redknapp signed Joe Cole for West Ham United when Cole was 11? Did you know that was in 1992? Did you know that is the last time Joe Cole was good at football? Well, all those things are true and if The Guardian is to be believed, Liverpool, who Cole allegedly "plays" for, are prepared to let Cole talk to Tottenham Hotspur.
Sure, some people might disagree. They might say that Joe Cole was a very good footballer for Chelsea. I don't recall that. I'm pretty sure you're all thinking of Ashley Cole who also played for Chelsea and had a very famous wife. I also hear he likes to shoot children with air rifles, but that's a story for another time.
Joe Cole must be useful for something because apparently Liverpool are paying him £90,000 per week, which is absolutely absurd because I don't think Cole has played a competitive match of football since 2003. In that year Cole won Hammer of the Year, which I assume is like winning a Gold Medal at the Special Olympics, it's nice, but it doesn't really mean much. That's actually probably a bit harsh. I in know way meant to say that Special Olympians are as inept as West Ham.
Seriously though, what does Joe Cole have to offer Tottenham Hotspur? Sure, he could keep Ledley King company in the training room, but so could Arjen Robben and he's much better at football. Unless Cole can play central defense, which I doubt since he's about 5'6", this makes no sense whatsoever. I'm not sure how Spurs will afford Cole's astronomical wages or how much they're going to ask Liverpool pay them to take Cole off their hands, but hopefully Levy asks for £10 million. That's how this transfer business works, right?
Thanks Harry Redknapp. You always make my life interesting.

These Rumors make me Angry
For all the good that Harry has done for Spurs over the past few seasons, crap like this makes me very angry. Why the hell is he stuck on his good old boys? Granted, I said the same thing when Harry brought Kaboul back, and I turned out to be wrong. However, Kaboul was young and still had an upside. Cole? Not so much.
Harry does this all the time.
Let’s list the “Harry Players” on the squad that Harry either brought back or wants to:
Younes Kaboul, Peter Crouch, Jermain Defoe, Niko Kranjcar, Joe Cole, Lassanna Diarra… who am I missing? I’m sure there are more.

Dunno.
Need something a little more from The Guardian than “While Liverpool are prepared to let Joe Cole go to Tottenham Hotspur…” before it gets my ire up. Like a quote from Harry or someone at Liverpool. Or a complete sentence.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a graveyard to walk past whilst whistling.

From His press conference post-Hearts
I like Joe. I signed him as an 11-year-old. He is a good player. I’ve got all the time in the world for him. We haven’t made any enquiries about him but I wouldn’t sit here and say I wouldn’t have him at the club because if I did I’d be lying. I do like him.

I keep hearing about Harry being an transfer market master
…so why haven’t I seen it?
Let's go Mets!
I have a theory about this.
Harry was a “master” while at much smaller clubs. He built his Wheeler Dealer reputation at West Ham, Portsmouth, and Southampton. Tottenham are a much different animal. We’re a bigger club with aspirations much higher than a simple mid-table finish. Additionally we have a lot more money.
If we were only trying to stave off relegation I have no doubt Harry would have brought in all sorts of players, but since we’re aiming for the Champions League I’m not sure how many ideas he has on how to improve the squad.

Harry's "Mr. Fix-It."
Clearly. He was absolutely the right hire for Spurs after the Two-Points-Off-Six-Games Incident™. But it’s clear that his strength is not necessarily in taking a top team and leading it to glory.
Which is why I’m kinda hoping he does get the England job.

If you don't think Joe Cole had a solid Chelsea career,
you either didn’t watch him or are just ignoring it
I admit it wasnt great…and he was injury prone…but the man had many big moments and solid games in important situations.
He came through when we needed him….hence why we loved him
