This offseason, we're going to do a series of posts called 'Player I'd Buy In A Fantasy World,' and this is the first installment of that series. The one player I’d buy in a fantasy world would be Mr. Alexandre Pato. Known as the ‘The Duck’ to his teammates, I’ll stick to Pato for this particular piece.
I was amazed to find out that Pato is still only 21. With his age in mind, I feel his next move would obviously be key. Be it him staying at AC Milan or in an ideal situation, him joining the mighty Tottenham Hotspur, I can dream can’t I?To continue, Pato is at a precocious stage of his career and the wrong move could send him in freefall and back to South America sharpish. If he were to move to the right part of North London, I could envisage him being deployed just in front of Rafael van der Vaart and letting the two of them create skilful magic whilst scoring a shedload of goals.
Pato was also the only player who impressed me during our Round 16 UEFA Champions League tie too (honest). He’d grafted and crafted to not much avail and was the only shining star in AC Milan’s early exit on a cold night at White Hart Lane.
Also, if ‘rumours’ of Aaron Lennon’s departure are true then Pato wouldn’t be a bad player to occupy the vacant number 7 (that’s if your into your squad numbers and all that lark). On a serious note, it’s without question that Pato’s talent would come to the fore in the Premier League and he’d be a bonafide star in the famous Lilywhite colours of Tottenham Hotspur FC. I await his arrival. White Hart Lane would have a new hero.
Editor's note: For those with broken sarcasm detectors, read the headline. This is a fantasy world. We know Pato is not coming to Spurs. Don't email me.
