Tottenham Hotspur have a whole ton of injuries and a whole ton of maybes going into Sunday's match against Birmingham City. At this point in the season injuries are rampant for most of the league, but we have it pretty bad. Here's your team news for the game.
Out
Gareth Bale (ankle)
Doubtful
Steven Pienaar (groin), Rafael van der Vaart (calf)
Questionable/Game time decisions
Heurelho Gomes (back), Tom Huddlestone (ankle), Wilson Palacios (knee), Ledley King (knee/general fitness)
Finally back to fitness
Jermaine Jenas, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Alan Hutton
Analysis after the jump.
Since it's the last game of the season, I think that Harry will let Ledley King go if he says he feels fit. I expect both Rafa and Pienaar to be kept out of the 18. I would be very surprised to see Gomes, Palacios, or Huddlestone make a start simply because the replacements for those players have been great. The same goes for Hutton and Assou-Ekotto, who could stay on the bench so their replacements get some more playing time at the fullback spots.
With Rafa out, the big question for this game is whether or not Defoe will start. Harry could bench him as a big eff you for his recent comments, but he could also A. Feel that Defoe will go out and play with some fire and B. Think that a great performance by Defoe could raise his sale value. I have a sneaking suspicion that Jermain Defoe will both start and score.
