It looks like Alan Hutton is going to start the UEFA Champions League match between Tottenham Hotspur and AC Milan. This can has a suck. Hutton is an embarrassing mess who really has no place on this team. Like at all. I really hate him. I can't describe how much I dislike Hutton. I think Ryan is better at this. Whatever.
Sadly, this isn't really a selection thing. Harry Redknapp fell out with Hutton a while back and the Scot lost is place, but thanks to injuries, he's back again. He's starting out of necessity at this point, due to Spurs having no other good options at right back. However, I think that Alan Hutton sucks enough to ask the question: Would we be better off playing someone else out of position?
Here are some options.
Benoit Assou-Ekotto at right back, Gareth Bale at left back, Steven Pienaar at left midfield
BAE and Bale are about as dumb as Hutton is as defending. Okay, not quite as dumb, but still pretty dumb. Probably not an improvement.
A hobbling, not 90 minutes fit Vedran Corluka
If Corluka is currently bipedal, this is a better option than Hutton.
William Gallas at right back, Sebastian Bassong at left central defense, Michael Dawson at right central defense
Gallas played well at right back after Corluka went off injured in the first leg of this tie, and he's played it for Arsenal in a serious pinch. I don't think we need a right back to bomb forward and put in crosses since we'll probably be a bit defensive minded. Plus, Hutton's crosses suck anyway.
Sandro, Wilson Palacios, and Jermaine Jenas out of position at right back
All total gambles. But, I think all of them have a 50-50 chance at being better than Hutton.
That's it from me. Have your say, CFC nation.
