AWolfAtTheDoor asked a question about where to watch a Spurs match in Ann Arbor, which inspired me to post this:
What are your favorite bars to watch Spurs? I have a feeling the Commentariat is scattered pretty much all over everywhere, so we could probably come up with a pretty useful list of bars to seek out in our travels. Also, on a personal note, I'm just curious where everyone hails from. I'll start things off after the jump.
I grew up in St. Louis and make frequent trips back to visit family. Amsterdam Tavern in Tower Grove is the bar of choice. Great atmosphere with a wide collection of friendly fans. A buddy of mine was there recently when Spurs fans were singing in full voice.
I now live in West Hollywood. Good places to watch in the LA area:
Ye Olde Kings Head English Pub in Santa Monica - lots of British ex-pats, fried foods and good beer. It gets real crowded, so show up early and be prepared to rub elbows with complete strangers.
The Fox and Hounds in Studio City - another traditional English pub, though not as crazy as the Kings Head, which can be a good thing sometimes.
Cock 'n Bull British Pub in Santa Monica - full disclosure, the closest I ever came to going in this pub was standing outside with Alexi Lalas while several hot girls were let in after they were at "full capacity" for the U.S. v. Honduras World Cup qualifier (which, as you might remember, wasn't on domestic TV). They were one of only 2 bars in the Los Angeles area carrying the game, though, so they're serious about their soccer.
It should go without saying that if anyone finds themselves in Los Angeles and wants to catch a game you are welcome to join me and my friends (two Spurs and a LIverpool supporter). Just post something on CFC and we'll set it up. Lord knows I read this site enough to catch it.
